Today, rapper/poet/activist Black Thought and New York–based soul group El Michels Affair announced that they're releasing a collaborative album titled Glorious Game on April 14 via Big Crown Records. This super-collab is a brilliant combination, the kind that makes so much sense that one might think, "Why had no one thought to do this earlier?" (The musicians met in the early 2000s and have performed together on-stage over the years.) Well, good news is that it's happening now and we get to hear their first single, "Grateful," today.
The soulfully dubbed track features a looped flute and lethargic percussion. “Dale Carnegies with big dreams to get rich quick that fail horribly," Black Thought raps at one point. “Never been in pursuit of the American dream.”
