"In a single year, I've aged 100," are words that feel all too real for each of the past several years. It's the opening line from Paramore's latest single “C’est Comme Ça," and Hayley Williams delivers the lyric with an equally familiar a shrug. The new track (its title translates to "That's the Way it Is" in English) is from their forthcoming album This Is Why which is out February 10 via Atlantic Records. The power-pop group haven't been holding back for their upcoming project—their first two singles "This Is Why" and "The News" criticized and rebuked the current state of affairs, and “C’est Comme Ça" further admits their addiction to catastrophe.
“I’m trying to get un-addicted to a survival narrative," Williams said of the track. "The idea of imminent doom is less catastrophic to me than not knowing anything about the future or my part in it. The guys and I are all in much more stable places in our lives than ever before. And somehow that is harder for me to adjust to.”
