This Valentine’s Day, Caroline Polachek will release Desire, I Want to Turn Into You, her highly anticipated follow-up to 2019’s Pang arriving in the wake of a slew of instantly iconic singles. After closing out 2022 with one of those singles, she’s unveiling two remixes of “Welcome to My Island,” one by frequent collaborator Charli XCX and 1975 drummer George Daniel, the other by electronic trio PVA.
If you have any familiarity with any or all of these names, you probably know what you’re in for—both remixes crank up the intensity of the pseudo-title track, swapping Polachek’s baroque-pop tendencies for club-friendlier sounds—XCX and Daniel’s in the realm of hyperpop, PVA’s hewing closer to industrial.
