Kari Faux released her last album Lowkey Superstar in 2021. Since then, the rapper-singer hailing from Little Rock, Arkansas shared a new single "Me First" for the German music performance platform COLORSxSTUDIO. Today, that single gets an official music video directed by Cam Robert, as well as a remix from Jersey club artist Uniiqu3.

On "Me First," hi-hats and claps are tossed around a fat bass line that makes its presence known like the coolest kid in school entering the halls in the morning. Piano trills detail the track alongside an electric synth chord. Overall, "Me First" is assertive, almost sultry in tone. Faux doesn't have to be aggressive to be heard—she knows her worth and puts in the work. The walls, haters, and lackluster lovers will fall before her. “‘Me First’ is an affirmation,” Faux shared of the song. “It’s a reminder not to neglect your own needs in hopes of being liked or accepted. It’s really a self-love bop for the twerkers. Get into it!”

Uniiqu3's treatment speeds up Faux's words, emphasizing that you'd better move out of her way. She's coming in fast and she knows where her priorities lie: "You know I come first." Uniiqu3 commented on the remix: “I loved the lyrics of the song. I'm all about self confidence so it was cool flipping this into a club track.“
