Petite Noir has released a couple of singles over the past few months ("Simple Things" featuring Theo Crocker and "Numbers"), and now it's been revealed that those songs are from a bigger project called MotherFather. The forthcoming album, which is out April 14 via Roya, will be Petite Noir's first since 2015's La Vie Est Belle/Life Is Beautiful, and the news also comes with another new song titled "Blurry" that features Sampa the Great and a video directed by Hector Aponysus.

“‘Blurry’ is a song about growth in love,” Petite Noir shared. “Being ready to take that next step whether it means being together or apart. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just move forward with your life solo.” Sampa added: “I felt so honoured to be able to work with Petite Noir. I’ve looked up to him and his music for a while and I’m truly inspired by his courage in paving the way for alternative musicians in Africa who feel like they don’t fit into one genre or one style.”

There's a subtitle tacked onto the album's name: "The darkness is comforting sometimes." Petite Noir explained that the project is about “going through the darkness. But it’s also about rebirth. Because the dark times are needed for us to grow.” MotherFather features production from Dave Sitek, CID RIM, Moshik Kop, Tropics, and Futura.
