Straddling the line of pop music and outlaw country—hence embracing the apt term “outlaw-pop”—DEVORA kicked off 2023 with a brand new EP called God Is Dead, which collects four neo-Western ballads touched up by a team of producers who’ve previously been behind the boards for cult synthpop artists including Passion Pit, M83, and Holy Ghost!. The EP both expanded the sonic universe DEVORA explores in her music and fleshed out the imaginative world of neon-lit ghost towns it inhabits.

For her recent “Neighborhoods” session, the songwriter performed the EP cut “Wild West” in Santa Clarita’s Angeles National Forest, spanning the San Gabriel and Sierra Pelona Mountains in the outskirts of LA County. Additionally, the acoustic set opens with her 2021 single “Elvis,” which has only become more relevant in the years since it was unleashed. Watch the Ben Staley–shot performance below, and check out her upcoming tour dates here.
