Black Thought and El Michels Affair are releasing a collaborative album called Glorious Game on April 14 via Big Crown Records. Today, on a day where people celebrate love with candy hearts and stuff, they've released a new single "That Girl." And yes, it is about being in awe of that girl.
"No way I could ever be right if loving her was wrong," Black Thought admits over twirling guitars and a clanking beat. He describes her beauty as a treasure and her laughter as a song. Essentially, she's a modern day goddess that Thought would do anything for. Later, he gets introspective, asking what he did to deserve this love and considers how he's growing as person.
But it's unclear if there's a happily ever after. "That girl, break your heart / That girl, tear you apart," goes a repeating soul sample. Regardless, seems like Black Thought, with an icy heart transformed, will never be the same.
