Alicia Bognanno of BULLY

Today, Alicia Bognanno, who release music as Bully, shared a new single called "Lose You" that features vocal harmonies from Soccer Mommy. "I love Sophie's voice and have always admired everything she does so to me it was a no brainer," shared Bognanno in a press statement, noting that it was the first song she ever considered having another musician sing on. The track was recorded last year at MMK Studios and Alicia's House in Nashville, and mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound.

"Lose You" is a succinct grunge-pop tune woven with stark realizations. "Time is just a useless measurement of pain," Bognanno sings in the opening line. Her desperation to hold onto an ephemeral relationship grows: "Do anything to get it back now / Tell me what I got to burn down," she pleads before the chorus hits. Even with the deep acknowledgement of impending loss ("Either way I'm gonna lose you"), Bognanno anchors "Lose You" with burning gratefulness: "To know you is a dream that I'm lucky to be in."

"Writing ‘Lose You’ was a way for me to work through the pain and reality of impermanence," Bognanno explained. "It doesn't make it any easier but reflection is often followed by growth and to me that's what life is all about."
