Today, Atmosphere returns with a new single called "Okay" and the announcement that their new album So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously will be out May 5 via Rhymesayers Entertainment. For a while now things have not been great, but the duo's latest single reminds us that everything is going to be OK. I mean, it has to be. Emcee Slug revealed that the song is “a gentle reminder that you are gonna be okay. I have no idea how you'll manage, but I fully believe in you.”
"Okay" reminds us that our definition of contentment, normal, neutral is always changing. As humans, we adapt. That's great, for the most part, until all of the obstacles are man-made. Still, Atmosphere balance optimism, pessimism, realism, and all other -isms on their latest single.
"It’s gonna be alright / It’ll be OK / I think that needs to be established," the song begins. Producer Ant provides an uplifting Mr. Rogers–esque beat while Slug wrestles with everyday contradictions. "For all of us that are easily distracted / Impatiently waiting for that American dream / Staring at the cracked screen of my anti-facts machine / Crash landed where the woke intersect with the exhausted / They asked if I’m depressed, I don’t doubt it, I was told it all began as a quest for some knowledge / Progress after you process the conflict," he continues. Everything is going to be OK, at least for a moment.
The song also comes with a comical video about aliens taking over Earth. Maybe don't watch if you love cats. Find that below, and pre-order So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously here.
