Making his directorial debut, Charlie McDowell (the son of Malcom McDowell and Mary Steenburgen) has brought us something magical with The One I Love. The trailer doesn’t give too much insight into the twist that lies at the heart of the plot, but it does offer the whimsy and mystery around it to keep us wondering.

Elisabeth Moss and Mark Duplass go on a weekend getaway in an attempt to revive their relationship. From the snippets of conversation, the elusive guesthouse that they repeatedly go in and out of proves to be a euphoric experience. If the chopped-up clips of opening and closing doors weren’t enough to keep you guessing, then leave it to Vivaldi to build the suspense.

The One I Love is out in theatres August 22.
