LP4, Ratatat’s most recent full-length, came out in June 2010. That means it’s been almost five years since Mike Stroud and Evan Mast have released any new music, but Coachella will make people do crazy things, and it seems that the Ratatat dry spell has ended.
In the middle of their weekend one set, the duo busted out a brand-new jam entitled “Cream On Chrome.” The nearly five-minute instrumental track features a steady swaying beat (complete with an infectious disco bass line) that continues to be built upon and torn apart by fuzz-drenched guitar riffs and dramatic synths.
No word yet on if this track is a taste of a fresh Ratatat LP or if it’s truly just a one-off release, but “Cream On Chrome” is sure to become a tour staple for the group who is out on the road now. Check out their upcoming live dates below.
