Today, British synth-pop visionary (and one half of Goldfrapp) Alison Goldfrapp shared some synth-pop gold with new single "So Hard So Hot." The track announces her debut solo album The Love Invention, which is out May 12 via Skint/BMG. The record features collaborations with Richard X (Pet Shop Boys, M.I.A.), James Greenwood (Daniel Avery, Kelly Lee Owens) and Toby Scott (The Gossip, Annie). The single is accompanied by a Mat Maitland–created visual that was made with AI technology. "This is my tribute to the dance floor and it's been so liberating to make," she shared.
"So Hard So Hot" is also liberating to listen to: Rubbery synths wiggle around Goldfrapp's breathy vocals, while the cascading ultraviolet synths and propulsive percussion together serve as a magnet to the dance floor. "We’re the souls we invite / We’re the sparks in the blue / The curve of light," she sings. "So Hard So Hot" invites us to fill our wells with sunshine, soaking up the luster from everything that surrounds us.
