There's a new covers anthology coming out featuring 23 of Nick Drake's most beloved songs reimagined by a diverse selection of genre-spanning artists. But before The Endless Coloured Ways – The Songs of Nick Drake is released on July 7 via Chrysalis Records, Let's Eat Grandma is sharing their version of "From the Morning," which, quite frankly, will have you in tears. The breathtaking lyrics, crystalline vocals, glinting synth, and bobbing bassline will do!
This reimagination is available as the first of a set of five limited edition double A-sided 7-inch singles featuring a selection of the assembled artists, with Fontaines D.C.'s already-released take on “‘Cello Song” on the other side. "It has meant a lot to me to cover 'From the Morning,'" Jenny Hollingworth said. "I’ve always thought of it as the most hopeful song on Pink Moon and listening to its lyrics about nature showing us the beauty in the light and darkness and how life and death are connected helped me to find acceptance and comfort after loss."
The Endless Coloured Ways, the brainchild of Nick Drake's estate manager Cally Callomon and co-founder of Blue Raincoat Music/CEO of Chrysalis Records Jeremy Lascelles, also features contributions from Aldous Harding, Self Esteem, Philip Selway, Christian Lee Hutson, Skullcrusher, Gia Margaret, Meshell Ndegeocello, Liz Phair, Bombay Bicycle Club, and plenty of others.
