Late last year, Stella Rose burst out of the gates with her debut single “Muddled Man,” an epic five-minute raver of erratic industrial synth-pop transforming into eerie R&B in its final moments. Today she’s revealing that the track will appear on her debut album Eyes of Glass, which will be released on May 19 through KRO Records. The project is the result of a creative partnership forged with producer Yves Rothman in Los Angeles in late 2020, which sees Stella Rose Gahan processing complicated feelings about the city. “LA was a very lonely place to me,” she shares. “Your environment can affect how you feel and the way you think. But, there is always the possibility of that place evolving. Change is always an option if you allow yourself to accept it. This project with Yves gave me faith.”
Along with the news of the new LP, Gahan is also sharing another new single: “Faithful” doubles down on the dark and electric energy of her earlier track while amplifying its focus on pop hooks, seemingly documenting a night out in LA as directed by David Lynch. The single arrives with a nocturnal music video helmed by Ben Howley which helps illustrate the seedy world Gahan creates through her music. “Communicating ideas through storytelling is what inspires me,” she adds. “Whether moving images or music, these stories create an atmosphere to perceive feelings. Taking you out of where you are for a moment to become something larger than yourself. Or to sink in deep to a feeling you might not understand or have answers to.”
