Today, anonymous production duo Two Shell shared the video for "mum is calling," a track from their recent lil spirits EP (the original title includes two sparkle emojis, which, unfortunately, our backend can't handle). The single is a little booty-shaker that has robotic voices repeating the lines "Mum is calling / Would you like to answer?" And guess what: they do eventually answer. "Hello darling," she speaks in a jilted voice. The Smart House–recalling maternal figure inquires how her darling is doing before signing off: "I love you so much / Pleas look after yourself."
Regardless of how unsettling this robot mommy is, "mum is calling" is the exact type of techno-weird that's made every Two Shell release something to anticipate. The video features two anonymous figures strutting throughout the streets, dancing on stone steps, boogying across crosswalks, and getting lost in a digital tailspin of AI imagery and memojis.
