Today is Killer Mike's birthday. Usually you give the birthday boy a gift, but instead Killer Mike is celebrating in his own way: He's announced his new album MICHAEL, which is out June 16, with the lead single "Don't Let the Devil" featuring El-P and thankugoodsir. This is his first solo album since 2012's R.A.P. Music, and it also arrives a week before the 10-year anniversary of the debut Run the Jewels LP. Although he's gathered acclaim with that outfit over the past decade, Mike is giving us a deeper understanding of himself as an individual creative being. He put it plainly: “RTJ is the X-Men, this is my Logan.”

The single was produced by No I.D., El-P, and Little Shalimar, and it features Mike's RTJ partner El-P. Killer Mike added: “My favorite group (US) with my favorite producers! It’s our 10 year anniversary and MICHAEL is an origin story so I wanted to start w/ El.”
