A few weeks ago, Anna Shoemaker returned with a new single called “Holly,” an introspective ballad about a frustrating on-again-off-again relationship with a self-proclaimed “art bro.” It was her first new music of the year, following her 2022 full-length Everything Is Fine (I’m Only on Fire). She’s since released another, significantly more rousing single called “I Think I” along with the news that both tunes will appear on a forthcoming EP titled Hey Anna slated for release this summer.

In the meantime, coming down a bit from the high of “I Think I,” Shoemaker performed “Holly” in her parents’ backyard in her hometown of Philadelphia recently for a “Neighborhoods” set, stripping the track down to the bare essentials with just an acoustic guitar. While she barely fights off a laughing fit near the end of the two-minute performance, the results still match the touching quality of the original recording. Check it out below.
