Notable post-punks Bush Tetras are releasing a new album called They Live in My Mind on July 28 via Wharf Cat—their first full-length since 2012. While there have been a few iterations of the group, the main-staying lineup included Pat Place, Cynthia Sley, and Dee Pop. Most recently they released a career-spanning boxset in 2021, though drummer Dee Pop tragically passed away right before the collection's release. They Live in My Mind was recorded to honor Dee Pop and the work the group was connecting over before his passing, with drummer-producer Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth filling in for the late percussionist.
“We just went into the rehearsal space and things just would fall right into place,” Place said about the initial sessions with Shelley. “We’d just start playing and the next thing would happen and we’d know where to take it.” She continued about the record's concept: “We thought a lot about memories from 1979 in New York City. It’s a reflection of growing up together, what we were eating, what we were doing, weird little things people probably won’t get. But that’s cool.”
Along with the news, the band shared the first single, "Things I've Put Together," which you can listen to below.
