Emcee Slug and producer Ant have been making music together as Atmosphere for over a quarter century at this point, with their 13th studio album (and, surprisingly, their album with only the third-longest title) So Many Other Realities Exist Simultaneously arriving last Friday via Rhymesayers, the label they helped found around the time of the project’s formation. In spite of the steady progression of their left-field hip-hop sound, the record continues their mission of trying to find a balance between common hardships and the occasional lemons life throws our way, as both members outlined for us in a recent interview.
Before embarking on their summer North American tour in support of the new record, Slug and Ant swung by FLOOD FM to record a new episode of “Hacked,” spinning a wide variety of influences ranging from Beastie Boys and Biz Markie to Gary Numan and Stereolab (not to mention fellow Minneapolis hometown hero Prince). Airing every day this week—May 8 to 12—at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT, tune in here to listen along. You can also find dates for their upcoming DeTour below.
