Just Like Heaven returned to Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California this past weekend, with a stacked lineup celebrating the music that defined indie music and culture in the early to mid-aughts, and continues to influence it today. Headliners Yeah Yeah Yeahs embraced the moment, delivering a set packed with classics ("Maps," "Zero") and rarely played deep cuts ("Art Star"), while MGMT performed their iconic debut Oracular Spectacular in full, complete with a children's choir and large bobblehead papier-mâché characters modeled after the duo.
Meanwhile, recently reassembled Brooklyn rockers The Walkmen performed their first LA show in a decade, while Peaches dominated in her beautifully nasty mid-afternoon set. Fans arriving early were treated to a rollicking performance from The Hives, who filled in at the last moment for fellow Swedes The Sounds who were forced to cancel with travel visa issues. Plus there was Fever Ray, M83, Ladytron, Empire of the Sun, Future Islands, The Faint, Cults, Hot Chip, Caribou, and much more.
