Every three years, English singer-songwriter Frank Turner releases a delightful compilation album of rare tracks that didn’t make the final cut on his solo albums. Earlier this month, the aptly named The Third Three Years dropped. It includes demos as well as covers of Queen, Tom Petty, and Paul McCartney, just to name a few.
Recently, Turner performed an acoustic rendition of The Weakerthans‘ 2007 track “Bigfoot!”—one of the most enjoyable numbers on the LP—as part of an exclusive FLOOD Session. After a succinct introduction (“This is a song about a guy who claims he saw Bigfoot and no one believes him”), Turner launches into the Reunion Tour track. If Weakerthans fans are feeling some sort of déjà vu after watching the video below, it might have something to do with the setting’s uncanny resemblance to a 2008 performance of “Bigfoot!” in Stockholm, Sweden.
One major difference? Within this version of the song, Turner provides fans with perhaps the greatest ending to a delicate acoustic performance ever: “Boom! Drops the mic and walks off set.” No topping that.
