Shoegaze icons Slowdive have announced their new album, everything is alive, which will be released on September 1 via Dead Oceans. Alongside the announcement, the band has shared lead single “kisses” with an accompanying video. The group has also announced a tour of North American, UK, and Ireland.

The new record began with co-vocalist and co-guitarist Neil Halstead in the role of writer and producer, working on demos at home. According to a press release, the album began with the musician toying with modular synthesizers and imagining the record as “minimal” and “electronic.” “As a band, when we’re all happy with it, that tends to be the stronger material,” he explained. “We’ve always come from slightly different directions, and the best bits are where we all meet in the middle.”

“Slowdive is very much the sum of its parts,” bandmate Rachel Goswell added. “Something unquantifiable happens when the five of us come together in a room.”
