Big Thief have released a new single called “Vampire Empire” off their forthcoming “Vampire Empire” / “Born For Loving You” 7-inch due out October 20 on 4AD. The track has been circulating for a while, becoming a fan favorite thanks to its status as a staple at live shows. They also performed the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert back in March, and it’s been a viral presence on TikTok ever since.
Of the song, Adrianne Lenker said: “For me, it’s about getting out of toxic internal patterns—leaving the empire of energy drains that obscure pure essence, learning about what healthy boundaries are, and finding the power to implement them for the possibility of giving and receiving (both inwardly and outwardly) unbroken and infinite Love.”
