The Hives have returned with two more singles, “Trapdoor Solution” and “The Bomb,” both of which will be featured on their first new album in over a decade, The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons. The project is set to arrive on August 11 via FUGA. On “Trapdoor Solution,” the band packs an uptempo punk thriller into just over a minute of action, led by wailing guitars and double-time drum grooves. “The Bomb” clocks in at just over two minutes, treading similar territory as “Trapdoor” but smoothing the edges around the band’s contrarian energy just enough to make it radio-ready.
The Hives recently closed out an extended support slot for Arctic Monkeys on their European arena tour. In the fall, they will return to North America for a cross-country tour. Additionally, they have recently announced a Latin American run kicking off in November.
