"My mother was Nina Simone 24/7, and that's where it became a problem."

Made in partnership with her friends and family, a brand-new documentary will dive deep into the music, activism, and tumultuous personal life of Nina Simone.

Yesterday, the first trailer for What Happened, Miss Simone?, directed by Liz Garbus (Bobby Fischer Against the WorldKilling in the Name), was released and features never-before-seen footage of the singer-songwriter alongside interview clips of Simone’s daughter honestly speaking about her life with her mother.

The documentary, which opened this year’s Sundance Film Festival to great acclaim, will be available on Netflix starting on June 26.
