The Flaming Lips’s Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots 20th (well, technically 21st) Anniversary Tour made its way to Philadelphia this past weekend, giving Barbie a run for her money with an explosion of pink imagery. Giant inflatable pink robots engulfed the stage as the band fed off the excitement of the sold-out crowd for their 24-song performance. They played their classic Yoshimi album in full, followed by a set of hits ("She Don't Use Jelly," "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song," "Race For the Prize"), deep cuts ("Vein of Stars,""Pompeii Am Götterdämmerung," "Mother I've Taken LSD"), and even a cover of Madonna's "Borderline."
FLOOD photographer David Iskra was there to witness the Lips’ arsenal of inflatables, glitter, lasers, strobes, and alt-psych classics. Check out highlights below.
