Earlier this summer, songwriter Elijah Wolf broke his creative drought with a new record titled Forgiving Season—the album’s name itself a reference to Wolf’s progress in accepting and ultimately overcoming the momentary lack of creativity spawned by a recent period of stagnancy most of us experienced in some capacity. Yet the resulting 10 songs exhibit an artist at the height of his powers, encouraged along by a network of friends and collaborators led by producer Sam Cohen.
Yet for his recent “Neighborhoods” session filmed in Saugerties, New York—just up the Hudson River from his Brooklyn home—Wolf performs the album tracks “We Talked About It” and “Fading” all on his own. Set up in his dad’s backyard garden, the songs both maintain the glow of their studio versions as if the comforting influence of their collaborators have permanently become a part of their DNA.
