Mikal Cronin’s latest solo offering MCIII is out today, and to celebrate, he brought a little string quartet (seemingly led by a dude in a Beethoven wig) to perform the album opener “Turn Around” on Conan, and following that, he’s now released a music video for the same song, which is basically a collaboration with Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler in a (wait for it…) scene-for-scene reenactment (sorta) of Natalie Imbruglia’s video for “Torn.”
(WARNING: If you hear even one note of that song, it will be stuck in your head all day.)
The project is part of the $5K Video Series, which pairs musicians and comedians, gives them a $5,000 budget, and tells them to go nuts making a music video. Money well spent, guys.
MCIII is out now via Merge.
