It’s been a pretty eventful couple of weeks for Oh Land’s Nanna Øland Fabricius, both in the Danish songwriter’s personal and professional lives: on Friday, she’ll release her sixth collection of synthpop tunes, Loop Soup, which she previewed for us here with the debut of the ’til-death-do-us-part single “Bucket List” last month. Also, just a few days after that song’s premiere, she got married in her backyard. “I hate the fact that we are all going to die one day, and I’d much prefer a romantic simultaneous spooning sleep-in with my man when we are both 100,” she shared back when the song was released. “But in case I’ll go first, here’s what he needs to do for me.”
In the short window between revealing the song and tying the knot, Fabricius performed a more intimate acoustic version of the single in that very same backyard of her house in Copenhagen, Denmark, for our “Neighborhoods” series. As expected, it’s a much softer and less futuristic-sounding version of the track, as if to draw attention to the here-and-now instead of looking forward to the grim future playfully addressed in the lyrics.
