Just under a year ago, LA-based indie rockers wilt unveiled their debut single “gwen,” a powerful anthem about a pill-popping party girl desperately yearning for happiness, asking “Oh, Gwen, when will you lay off the pills / Oh, Gwen, when will you wear what makes you comfortable?”
It's been a whirlwind year for the five-piece since then, amassing a six-figure fanbase on Instagram, touring with breakout British alt-rock band Lovejoy, and now facing A&R reps from numerous labels trying to sign them. Fronted by dynamic vocalist Chelsea Rifkin, the band—which also includes guitarists Aaron Liebman and Andrew Perrea, bassist Jake Shpiner, and drummer Daniel Bermudez—is not afraid to tackle multiple genres, from the indie-pop Best Coast vibes of their single “Moved Along” to the arena-ready rocker “Nothing Special.” The group themselves cite the likes of Radiohead, Alex G, Weezer, and Slow Pulp among their influences, but you’ll also hear shades of Paramore, No Doubt, and Debbie Harry thanks to Rifkin’s powerhouse vocals.
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of their debut single—with “gwen“ alone garnering nearly a million Spotify streams since its release—the band will be playing a special showcase presented by FLOOD at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles on November 10, joined by fellow up-and-coming LA band Rose Avenue.
