Two-weekend festivals are interesting to dissect. From a coverage perspective, you have two opportunities at covering most of the artists on the lineup while also getting a handful of new artists on the second weekend that weren’t on the previous lineup.
The downside? It’s exhausting. Six days with over 15,000 steps, late-hours editing, and blistering heat can wear a person down. And the dust on weekend two was gnarly. That being said, from a photography standpoint, I often find a groove during weekend two of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. I can make up for moments that I might have missed and, overall, I think the machine is much more well-oiled. Did I mention it’s exhausting? Either way you cook it, collecting images from six days at one of the biggest American festivals is incredibly fulfilling. When it’s all said and done, the body of work makes it all worth it.
Here’s our weekend two coverage. Thanks to the amazing people behind ACL without whom this coverage would not be possible.
