You almost certainly know Nikolai Fraiture best as the bassist in The Strokes for the past quarter century, but since 2015 the musician’s also been fronting the outfit Summer Moon additionally comprised of members of Jane’s Addiction, Au Revoir Simone, Uh Huh Her, and Jenny Lewis’ Nice as Fuck project (to say nothing of his underrated LP released as Nickel Eye in the late-’00s when all the other Strokes were going solo). The group recently followed up their post–Comedown Machine debut LP With You Tonight with an EP titled Casino Days, which documents the band’s moment pre-pandemic when new material seemed to be imminent.

In celebration of that new release, Fraiture recorded an episode of “Hacked” for FLOOD FM in which he discusses some of his favorite music cues in iconic films, in honor of the time he spent pre-Strokes working at a video rental store (“It was like the film High Fidelity, but instead of records, it was videos, LaserDiscs, and DVDS,” he explains). From the soundtrack to the Bowie-starring Man Who Fell to Earth to David Fincher’s era-defining Pixies needle drop, you can hear the full episode when it airs every day this week (October 23 to 27) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT on FLOOD FM. Tune in here.
