This Friday, ex-Cure percussionist Lol Tolhurst and ex-Siouxsie & the Banshees percussionist Budgie will release their debut collection of songs alongside renowned producer Jacknife Lee, Los Angeles. In our new interview with Tolhurst and Budgie, the veteran musicians shared that it’s actually their second attempt at collaboration after working together in the home studio of another drummer, Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee, on an aborted project some years back, reconvening recently with an enticing slate of guest vocalists on this album-length homage to their adopted hometown.
Before the record drops, Tolhurst and Budgie are hosting a new episode of FLOOD FM’s “Hacked” all week in which their playlist reflects a similarly broad span of artists as the guest list on Los Angeles, including a few influential classics by T. Rex and Leonard Cohen, cuts from both musicians’ contemporaries including Buzzcocks and The Clash, as well as tracks from more recent names such as London Grammar and The Dare, the latter of whom remixed the title track on the trio’s new LP. You can hear the full episode when it airs every day this week (October 30 to November 3) at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m. PT on FLOOD FM. Tune in here.
