A Sunny Day In Glasgow shared their new video for their Sea When Absenttrack, “In Love With Useless (The Timeless Geometry in the Tradition of Passing),” earlier this week on Noisey, and it’s as uplifting as the song itself.
If you were to combine the adventures you have with your best friends, painting with variety of colors and textures, listening to chiming layers of synths and falsetto vocals, and seeing it all behind a glass wall or bubble, you would get all the elements of this video. Yet, in the midst of all the laughter and happiness happening on the outside, there’s still a sense of isolation that encompasses the slightly more grim lyrics of the song. Together, the video brings to life the outstanding line of, “Don’t stop, sometimes I feel so happy/I’m in love with useless.” It’s a balance of feelings on opposite sides of a spectrum, and it works so well for the group.
Sea When Absent is available now on Lefse Records.
