Yesterday, Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova stormed Indiana’s Supreme Court to protest the restrictive reproductive rights imposed by the state’s judicial body. The demonstration was organized in collaboration with students from Indiana University. Tolokonnikova noted in a statement that she chose students from the state because she wants to encourage them to vote—even when they’re rightfully disenchanted with political machinations in this country.
“We came to Indiana because we care about the most vulnerable groups of people—womb-holders who exist in the red states,” she shared. “They are neither seen, nor protected. Indiana was the first state to outlaw most abortions after Roe v. Wade was overturned... The state supreme courts have become the hand and uncontested voice of god, we protest this by paying homage to Martin Luther and delivering our theses—starting with Thesis №1, GOD SAVE ABORTION.”
