After exploring colorful psychedelic textures on last year’s Full-On Monet, Danny Davis’ Husbands project returned last month with their fourth full-length record (complemented by a series of EPs dating back to 2014 and a pair of Christmas LPs) aptly titled Cuatro which flaunts a back-to-basics approach as Davis reconsidered his relationship to the project. In doing so, Cuatro sees the outfit swapping those experiments in psych- and dream-pop for lushly warm baroque instrumentals as heard on “Old Town,” which borders on tropical.

Ironically, the band’s “Neighborhoods” set sees Husbands performing this track on a chilly afternoon while on tour in Kansas City, Missouri. The four-piece strip things down to just acoustic guitar, bass, keys, and shaker as they harmonize on the three-minute cut. Oh, and don’t worry about the seemingly haunted setting—the video happened to be recorded on Halloween.

The band will be hitting the road again in February to play a set of dates spanning Western North America—find their full itinerary here.
