Chicago rap mainstay Vic Mensa has shared a music video for “Blue Eyes,” a standout cut from his recently released LP VICTOR. In the six minute short film, black and white cinematography mingles with color shots featuring Vic rapping to his reflection in water, abstract scenes of trauma and triumph, and beautiful landscapes.
“The song ‘Blue Eyes’ is one of the most personal I’ve ever made and illustrates the impact of European beauty standards on the mind of the African, using my experience and that of my aunt who recently passed from the effects of skin bleaching,” said Mensa.
The visual was filmed in Jamaica by longtime friend and collaborator Andre Muir, who previously helmed the video for Vic’s song “Shelter” with Chance the Rapper. Check it out below.
