For Caitlin Gutenberger, Two Sheds is a project that bridges years, cities, and dares. That’s what it was when it began in 2004—a dare from her husband to write songs to match her Chan-Marshall-meets-Neil-Young-style voice. 2005’s Strange Ammunition was the byproduct of the assignment, and following a self-titled EP in 2007, Caitlin put the Two Sheds moniker to rest for a bit to pursue other musical endeavors.
But following a fresh dare from a friend for Gutenberger to write twenty songs in twenty-four hours (she ended up doing sixty over the course of seventy-two), Two Sheds is returning this month with Assembling, an album culled from the newly-written material recorded mostly over five days at New Monkey in Los Angeles—Elliott Smith’s former studio.
Below, you can stream the album in full ahead of its release next week on Crossbill Records.
Assembling is out May 26 via Crossbill Records. Purchase the record here.
