Much in the same way Squid—their left-field post-punk peers in the UK—did, Yard Act closed out a monumental 2023 with a short but sweet tour of East Asia, hitting Bangkok, Hong Kong, Osaka, and Tokyo within the span of a week. Yet unlike Squid, who were supporting the sophomore album they’d released midway through the year, Yard Act were getting audiences hyped for the release of their own then-recently announced second LP, Where’s My Utopia?, which will be landing March 1 via Island Records.
Following extensive touring leading up to these international dates, and a 2022 link-up with avowed superfan Elton John, Yard Act’s time in Thailand, Hong Kong, and Japan saw them enjoying the vibrant nightlife, eye-popping scenery, and exquisite cuisine (if the expressions on their faces in their photo diary are to be believed). With a new slate of post-release-day dates across the UK announced last week, it’s only a matter of time before they do it all again.
