Well, in this week’s installment of corporations trying to understand and harness youth culture for monetary gains (and to finally understand what it means to be #trending), yesterday, Delta Airlines tried to jump on the “cool safety video” bandwagon with its new instructional clip aptly titled “The Internetest safety video on the Internet.”
The six-minute-long video features already outdated memes and Internet jokes like Keyboard Cat, Charlie Bit My Finger, and Double Rainbow, all while trying to remind you what to do in case the flight has a land or water landing. It’s clear that the video was made with the best intentions, but why why do we keep having to endure these cutesy videos to tell us safety information? Instead of putting us at ease, it just makes passengers feel uncomfortable for how much effort was put into this strange way-too-late time capsule for procrastination obsessions.

Delta provided a short description of why they made the video, along with every “hilarious” reference:
We see you’re on the Internet. That’s great, because we made a safety video starring the Internet. Now, there’s a lot of Internet out there, and, as such, you might not be familiar with every character in our film. That’s why we’ve included the list below to help you figure out what’s what.

0:26 Annoying Orange
0:30 Roomba Cat
0:45 Rahat’s Prank

OK, it seems like a lot of effort went into this, but we will never forgive them for reminding us that the horrifying Dancing Baby ever existed. Thanks for the nightmares, Delta.
