St. Vincent has announced an extremely cheery sounding new self-produced album entitled All Born Screaming, which will arrive on April 26 via Virgin Music Group. To kick off the festivities, the artist born Annie Clark has shared the first single, “Broken Man.” The track is built around metallic percussion, big drum fills, and layers of harmonies. The blend of repetition and massive, almost parodic guitar chords gives the song a rather exciting tension—think Tool covering a Nine Inch Nails–produced Fiona Apple song and you’re circling the vibe.

“There are some places, emotionally, that you can only get to by taking the long walk into the woods alone—to find out what your heart is really saying,” Clark shared of the song. “It sounds real because it is real.”

All Born Screaming includes contributions from Rachel Eckroth, Josh Freese, Dave Grohl, Mark Guiliana, Cate Le Bon, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, Stella Mogzawa, and David Ralicke. Check out the music video for “Broken Man” below, and pre-order All Born Screaming here.
