Bill Murray is having one hell of a week. Between jumping out of cakes, falling off of chairs, and finally telling David Letterman that he’ll never have the money that he owes him, today, Murray (via Netflix) dropped the teaser trailer for his upcoming holiday special, A Very Murray Christmas.
While the title alone is enough to sell anyone on giving the elusive actor his own, well, anything, the Christmas show has a concept—along with a stellar cast and crew—that will turn even the scroogiest unbelievers into #MurrayChristmas devotees. Directed and written by Sofia Coppola (with Murray and Mitch Glazer), Netflix bills A Very Murray Christmas as “an homage to the classic variety show featuring Bill Murray playing himself, as he worries no one will show up to his TV show due to a terrible snow storm in New York City. Through luck and perseverance, guests arrive at the Carlyle hotel to help him; dancing and singing in holiday spirit.”
If that doesn’t get you into the Christmas spirit a whole eight months early, maybe the initial cast list will, which includes Chris Rock, Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler, Jenny Lewis, Jason Schwartzman, Phoenix (wonder how they got them), Michael Cera, and, the always charming, George Clooney. Even if all of these people just talked to each other for an hour, it would be golden.
A Very Murray Christmas is coming to Netflix in December.
