Shortly after the packed house at FLOODfest gave Chromeo a massive ovation for their headlining DJ set, SXSW attendees returned to the Mohawk to check out another FLOOD-sponsored event. Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label put together a special evening showcase celebrating the rich history of the blues and the label’s extended family, with The Black Keys performing a headlining set spotlighting their 2021 blues-rock opus Delta Kream alongside performances from Robert Finley, Early James, Gabe Carter, Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, Moonrisers, Eugene Hideaway Bridges (with The Moeller Brothers), and Kenny Brown.
During Holmes’ set, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, and The Black Keys invited Zurich-based instrumental duo Hermanos Gutiérrez to jam with them onstage, creating one of SXSW’s most memorable moments.
Photographer Daniel Cavazos was there documenting all of the artists on the outdoor stage, while Kenn Box captured the action indoors. Check out their photos for FLOOD below.
