When he isn’t recording and performing with Cat Power for her recent Bob Dylan at Royal Albert Hall covers project, Arsun Sorrenti is recording his own music under the mononym Arsun. Sorrenti will be releasing Babe I Hear Thunder in Your Heart on April 5 following the release of the record’s bluesy and not entirely un-Dylan-like title track last month, which investigates the up-and-down nature of human relationships. “I wanted to make a straightforward song that had a nice, clear meaning,” he shared upon its release.
Set up on a fire escape above a community garden on Manhattan’s Lower East Side on a cold, drab day, Arsun recorded an acoustic performance of the track (pre–Highway 61 Revisited fans rejoice) for his “Neighborhoods” set. Intercut with the mellow performance are shots of snowy nearby terrain that both add to the peaceful nature of the ballad and give a sense of its mid-winter setting.
