Last fall, we launched a “Neighborhoods” miniseries focusing on the many local talents populating Oslo’s annual Øya Festival, with a handful of Norwegian acts playing stripped-down performances around the city before or after taking the festival stage. Today we’re kicking off a similar set of videos putting a spotlight on some of the numerous groundbreaking acts filling out NYC’s New Colossus festival, a yearly event hosting upward of 100 emerging international artists in rock music and beyond as they play shows across various independent venues in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

For the initial episode, Rochester-by-way-of-Boston indie-pop artist Coral Moons sets up in Freeman Alley to bring singles “shrooms” and “Poser” to life with two electric guitars and vocalist Carly Kraft’s soaring voice backed by nothing but graffiti-splattered walls. Check out the video below, and expect more from New Colossus in the coming weeks.
