Noga Erez has returned with “Vandalist,” an angsty alt-pop tune that follows a string of singles like “Quiet” from August and her 2022 hit “NAILS.” The new track begins with a staccato piano melody and back-and-forth layers of vocals. Percussion melds the worlds of dance, hip-hop, and electronic music, giving the song an unexpected undercurrent. “I’m only here for benefits,” Erez sings. “Yeah, all my friends are counterfeit.”
“‘Vandalist’ is a musical middle finger,” said Erez regarding the track, “a song born out of frustration and a need to vent. This song is my response to those who try to define me based on false assumptions and ignorance. I hope this track resonates with anyone else feeling angry or fed up with the world’s hypocrisy.”
