Beth Gibbons, inarguably one of the coolest humans on this planet, has returned with a new single entitled “Reaching Out.” The track will be featured on her HABM (highly anticipated by me) new album Lives Outgrown, set to be released on May 17 via Domino Records.
The track is a spooked-out play on chamber pop, with groaning strings and tom-led percussion galloping alongside Gibbon’s tender yet powerful voice. “You stand alone, on your own, reaching out, holding on,” she sings. It’s gorgeous and broken, like much of the best music is.
The accompanying video was made with artist Weirdcore (Aphex Twin, Arca), and features 4D models of Gibbons in a sci-fi realm. Think William Gibson’s work coming to life. Better yet, check out the static video below and the interactive website here, and pre-order Lives Outgrown here.
