NYC-based quintet GIFT have signed a deal with perennial indie all-stars Captured Tracks, and are celebrating the news with a new single called “Wish Me Away.” The polished new wave–inspired cut incorporates shimmering guitars and vocals that nod to shoegaze’s dream-like history.

Said vocalist/guitarist TJ Freda about the track: “‘Wish Me Away’ is about giving into the feeling of everything slipping away. Just take it all away, put me out of my misery, wish me away. While this all seems daunting and sad, there’s a feeling of optimism in this song, holding on for dear life and refusing to give up hope.”

The accompanying video features an older man doing jumping jacks while rocking an eye patch—it’s surreal, to say the least. Stream the single here, and check out the visual below.
