Playing Coachella is a dream achievement for many artists, but being booked twice in three years almost seems unheard of. Parisian nu-disco sextet L’Impératrice returned to the desert again after their standout 2022 appearance, graduating from the Gobi tent to the larger Outdoor Theatre this year, where they got even the most dance-phobic fans grooving during both weekends of the festival. “Coachella was a crazy opportunity for us as Frenchies!” the band reveals to us. “Two times in three years for us—cannot hope for or expect anything better than that! It’s also very fun to see all of the big acts with whom we share the festival lineup with.”
After confirming with us who their favorite act was this year (“Tyler, for sure”), they proceed to contrast their experiences during the two weekends of the event. “The first weekend is always more stressful—there are a lot of industry people, the pressure is on,” they add. “Second weekend is always more relaxed, more about music and having fun!”
On the heels of their Coachella experience, the band unveiled their new single “Love From the Other Side” today, offering another taste of their forthcoming Pulsar album, due out June 7 via Microqlima.
