In the midst of going viral thanks to her live performance videos, Revenge Wife—the project of Liz Nistico—has kept the train moving with a new single entitled “Myth of a Salesman,” marking her first-ever co-production as NZCA Lines contributes to the track. The sultry synth-pop number slinks along with grooving drums and the warm warbles of a Rhodes keyboard. Nistico’s vocals are drenched in vocoder, turning the song into a dispatch from a distant planet in a far away future.
Regarding the track, Nistico shared: “‘Myth of a Salesman’ is my Daft Punk song (inspired by ‘Something About Us’). Melodically, it came to me in a dream when I was at SXSW last year, and thematically it’s dealing with the concept of permanence. The full title is ‘Forever Is a Myth That the Salesman Makes,’ but that just felt too long. I’m always hanging on this idea that I’ll check some box and I’ll be coasting in ease after that, but that’s just not reality! It’s a song about love and change and feeling OK with where things are at.”
